MZ Titan DualShock Controller FAQ

Only authentic DUALSENSE, DUALSHOCK 4 and Xbox Series X / S wireless controllers are used for MZ Titan controllers. All internal components are the same as a regular controller, except for the MZ Titan 1.0 modchip.

MZ Titan controllers are genuine DUALSENSE, DUALSHOCK 4 or Xbox Series X / S controllers and work in all games on supported systems (refer to Gaming System in the Features tab).

MZ Titan mods are designed for first and third person shooters, as well as sport games. However they will work in any games that can use the button press sequences provided by the mods.

Yes. We recommend installing all firmware updates suggested by your console. It won’t affect modchip operation.

Reset your MZ Titan controller by following these steps:

  1. Turn off your console.
  2. Find the tiny reset button on the back of the controller.
  3. Grab a small tool (like a paperclip) and push the button inside the hole. Hold it down for about 3-5 seconds.
  4. For DUALSENSE and DUALSHOCK 4 controllers, connect the controller to your console with a USB cable and hit the PS button.
  5. For Xbox controllers, press the pairing button on the Xbox console and hit the pairing button near the USB port on the controller.

MZ Titan modchips come preinstalled in new DUALSENSE, DUALSHOCK 4 or Xbox Series X / S controllers only. MZ Titan modchips are not sold separately.

All accessories compatible with genuine DUALSENSE, DUALSHOCK 4 and Xbox Series X/S controllers are compatible with MZ Titan controllers.

  1. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your Android or Apple device.
  2. Download MZ Titan OS app for Android (Google Play) or iOS (App Store).
  3. Start the MZ Titan OS app and press the Connect To button. The app will automatically detect nearby MZ Titan modchips.
  4. Turn on the MZ Titan DUALSENSE or DUALSHOCK 4 controller using the PS button, or press the Xbox button on a MZ Titan Xbox controller.
  5. The app will automatically detect nearby MZ Titan modchips. Select the detected modchip to access settings in the MZ Titan OS app.

For guides to setting up an MZ Titan Controller, jump to the Videos tab.

  1. Open the MZ Titan OS app and select your MZ Titan OS modchip.
  2. Tap the small icon at the top-right of the app and press Check for Updates.
  3. If an update is available, MZ Titan OS will automatically update the connected MZ Titan modchip.

MZ Titan controllers stocked by Mod Squad come preinstalled with Advanced Recoil Assist, and the FPS Mod Pack, which includes Rapid Fire, Burst Fire, Akimbo, Drop Shot, Jump Shot, Quick Scope, Auto Hold Breath, Auto Sprint, as well as the Remap Controller mod.

The MZ Titan OS app comes with free Presets that automatically setup things like antirecoil & rapidfire for many weapons in popular shooter games.

Presets are currently available for Apex Legends, Call of Duty series, Destiny 2, Rainbow Six Siege and The Division.

No. MZ Titan controllers stocked by Mod Squad come preinstalled with the FPS Mod Pack, normally priced at $46 AUD, as well as the Advanced Antirecoil Mod normally priced at $31 AUD. These mods are free to use and are Unlocked on your MZ Titan controller.

Other mods are available for purchase in the MZ Titan OS app. Not all games need all mods, and new mods are added to MZ Titan OS app, so you can buy only the ones you want for the games you play.

Watch the MZ Titan OS – Mod Purchases video to learn how to buy more mods in the MZ Titan OS app.

Credits for Mod Purchases in MZ Titan OS app are sold at the rate of 1 Credit for $1.50 AUD.

Mod Purchases in MZ Titan OS app are available from 2 Credits ($3.00 AUD) up to 10 Credits ($15.00 AUD) per mod, depending on functionality.

Multiple MZ Controllers can connect to the same MZ Titan OS app, but Mod Purchases are Unlocked only on the MZ Titan modchip connected to MZ Titan OS app when buying a mod.

Mod Purchases can’t be transferred to other MZ Titan controllers.

The MZ Titan 1.0 modchip is built into the MZ Titan controller and cannot be detected. A MZ Titan controller looks exactly the same as a regular controller to supported gaming systems.

Caution is advised when using the Rapid-fire mod as inhuman timing can be detected in some games. Use sensible button or trigger timing (50ms or more) and use the Randomisation option provided to mask the use of Rapid-fire.

MZ Titan controllers stocked by Mod Squad are the base controller model without extra buttons or rear paddles.

Press the Remote Command Button (R3/RS by default) and double-tap D-Pad Up to select the previous Profile, or double-tap D-Pad Down to select the next Profile.

To turn off mods without opening the MZ Titan OS app, hold the Remote Command Button (R3/RS by default) and double-tap D-pad Left to disable the current Profile.

To turn mods back on, hold the Remote Common Button and double-tap D-Pad Right to re-enable the current Profile.

If you’re having trouble with your thumbstick not working properly in-game, try factory resetting your controller first. If that doesn’t do the trick, you might want to reset your console as well.

Another option is to give your thumbstick modules a quick blast with some canned compressed air to clear out any potential debris.

If you’re still getting “drift,” “slow turn,” or other unintended thumbstick movements, it’s worth checking your in-game “deadzone” settings. Here’s how:

  1. Go to the settings menu of the game(s) where you’re noticing the drift.
  2. Look for a “deadzone” setting in the menus.
  3. Try bumping up the value of the “deadzone” a little and jump back into the game.
  4. If you’re still seeing drift after tweaking the “deadzone,” repeat steps 1 to 3 until the drift is gone.

If you’re noticing up-and-down drift, it might be down to your Anti Recoil settings. Check if the Anti Recoil mod is turned on and how it’s set up. Adjust the settings as needed using the instructions in the MZ Titan App, or turn off the Anti Recoil to see if that’s the cause.

If the game you’re playing doesn’t have a “deadzone” setting, or if adjusting the deadzone or Anti Recoil mod doesn’t fix the issue, give us a shout for more help.

Thumbsticks naturally sit a bit off-centre when you’re using them, which can cause unintended movements depending on the game’s default sensitivity settings. This isn’t unusual, even with first party controllers.

To stop any unintended movements, every controller has a small area near the center of each thumbstick that’s software-controlled. This area is called the “deadzone,” and it’s all about those subtle thumbstick movements. Deadzones can vary from game to game.

Thumbsticks can also develop “drift” over time, depending on the amount of use. Drift shows up in-game as unintended movement or cancelled actions (like stopping a sprint). Games with smaller deadzones by default, like Fortnite, Apex Legends, or Call of Duty: Warzone, might cause more controllers to show “drift” in-game.

Stick drift is mostly due to wear and tear and is only warranted for 90 days after purchase to cover manufacturing defects.

MZ Titan controllers are imported from ModdedZone in the USA. The DUALSENSE, DUALSHOCK or Xbox Series X / S controller hardware has been modified to insert the MZ Titan 1.0 modchip, which voids the controller manufacturer Warranty.

All ModdedZone products, including MZ Titan controllers, carry a 90-day Warranty on defective parts, faulty workmanship during the manufacturing process, the modchip functionality and installation.

Despite the short Warranty period offered by ModdedZone, we have used MZ Titan controllers for over 3 years without any problems. The Warranty period should be long enough to identify manufacturing issues with the controller, or problems with the installed MZ Titan 1.0 modchip. Please refer to the Returns page for Warranty Returns information.

The Warranty does not cover damage caused by accident, misuse, abuse, neglect, lightning, power surges, unauthorised product modification, repairs, or excessive wear, which may be determined by inspection by ModdedZone or its authorised agents.

Full Warranty information for MZ Titan controllers can be viewed at ModdedZone Limited Warranty Policy.
